Surfing and Safety
- West Coast Surf Club - the local surfclub, do check their Facebook group page for the latest information, they run a variety of coaching sessions and organise fund raising for their junior members selected for the National team.
- Clare Water Safety - Local branch of Irish water safety with a training centre at White Strand, Miltown Malbay. We strongly advise getting your children trained in water safety so they are aware of the hazards.
- Irish Surfing - National governing body for surfing in Ireland, responsible for training surf instructors and accrediting surf schools

- Windguru - This is the forecast site we trust for predicting conditions in Lahinch.

- Irish Lights meterology - This organisation now manages the various lighthouses and weather buoys around the coast of Ireland. Closest buoy to Lahinch is finnis buoy off Inisheer which is the closest of the Aran Islands.

Surf Schools & Surf Rentals
Due to insurance requirements rentals are handled by surf schools and they have a variety of equipment available to rent without booking a lesson.
We recommend contacting the surf schools before your visit so that you can check what equipment they have, their hours and their rates. The hours can be dependent on tide times and weather conditions. For example: rentals are usually suspended for 3 hours before and 3 hours after high tide in Lahinch due to the rock armour and the funky currents. Orange or higher weather warnings also lead to shutdowns in coastal businesses.
