Second hand surfboards
SECOND HAND SURFBOARDS
Do you sell second hand boards?
Yes, we will sell boards on behalf of their owners for 15% commission as space allows.
The prices are set by the owners and they also determine what they will include with the board: fins, leash, bag.
We recommend sellers include a set of compatible fins, make any necessary repairs and clean any wax off the board before bringing it in to be sold.
It is not mandatory for sellers to include fins or other accessories, nor is it mandatory for the board to be clean and repaired.
We will advise potential purchasers about the condition of the board and what/who it is suitable for.
Our ability to take boards in for sale is dependent on current stock levels allowing space for it to be displayed.
In general we will advise sellers not to include a leash and buyers to purchase a new leash as it's impossible to know what strain has been placed on a second hand leash.
Do you take board trade-ins?
Occassionally, this is very much a case-by-case scenario. We have a preference for surf boards that are suitable for beginners and improvers which are in saleable condition.
Any trade-in board must include fins compatible with the board.
Trade ins would only be considered against a new board purchase as most second hand boards we have in-store don't actually belong to Lahinch Surf Shop.
Where are most secondhand boards sold?
At this time most Irish surfers sell their boards on Facebook in the group Surfboards for Sale Ireland, you may also see some secondhand beginner boards popping up on general resale websites and channels.
